Handex Consulting & Remediation, LLC is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to oversee H&S programs, conduct investigations, and ensure compliance with safety regulations at multiple US locations. This hybrid role involves training, reporting, and managing safety initiatives while building relationships with local managers. Candidates should have over 4 years of experience in health and safety, particularly in environmental or construction settings. The position is based at the corporate HQ in Winter Park, FL.
Handex is seeking a highly motivated Health & Safety Specialist to oversee our H&S Programs. This hands on role will include conducting investigations, reporting and training to ensure all operational and compliance polices are being followed in multiple US locations. This position will be hybrid and located at our corporate HQ’s in Winter Park, FL.

What will be my responsibilities?

· The H&S Specialist role is to ensure that Handex complies with all current Federal, State and local Health and Safety laws, policies and regulations and to be the company’s point of contact and subject matter expert in all things Health & Safety.

·Build relationships with local managers by regularly communicating and visiting job sites to provide and maintain safe systems/work locations.

· Advise management team on new H&S and welfare legislation and propose recommendations that will generate action plans for compliance.

· Lead virtual/online monthly company-wide safety meetings and attend client meetings as needed.

· Initial Point of Contact for employees and management for H&S program and workplace incidents and represent Handex during on-site OSHA inspections, risk/claims/citations and communicate with OSHA and vendors.

· Conduct and follow up on all investigations of circumstances surrounding workplace incidents, complete/update reporting, documentation and maintain and open dialogue with management, employees and vendors.

· Analyze incidents and provide feedback necessary to prevent recurrences and mitigate the impact and possibility of health and safety risks. Develop strategies, recommendations and reporting to improve employee work conditions by reducing/eliminating physical health risks.

· Manage claims made against General Liability, Auto, and Workers Compensation policies.

· Perform compliance audits at all Handex locations and provide senior management team with results and solutions to any identified issues.

· Monitor existing H&S educational resources (Online LMS) and training materials which include: safety culture, safe operating procedures, specific workplace safety topics, and new hire safety orientation training. Make recommendations for new training as well.

· Present training sessions (in person and online) and monitor/follow up with employees on required training for completion in all applicable areas for compliance.

· Manage DISA and H&S pre-qualifications for clients and subcontractors.

· Manage and update OSHA 300 logs and H&S reports/documents and maintain on SharePoint.

· Monitor PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) reimbursements.

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What skills are needed for success?

. 4+ years of experience as a Health & Safety professional with a focus on conducting investigations, training, mitigating risk, compliance and reporting. Environmental, industrial and construction environments highly desired.

· HS diploma required. Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and H&S certifications a plus.

· Comprehensive knowledge of occupational H&S best practices and a SME in OSHA & DOT a must.

· Proven ability to present H&S training programs.

· Customer service focused on establishing credibility to partner with internal/external clients.

· Team player and collaborator with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Attention to detail, highly organized with follow-up skills a must in order to manage reporting and documentation to meet deadlines and compliance.

· Highly proficient IT skills: Microsoft Office (Excel and Word), SharePoint, Teams Meetings and LMS.

· A valid driver’s license with the ability and willingness to travel to multiple US locations and job sites at least 30% of the time.

· Position is hybrid (3 days in office) and reside in the Greater Orlando Florida area.

· Ability to pass background checks (drug/alcohol/dmv/physical) required.

Salary Range:

$70,000.00 to $80,000.00
