People over Plastic is seeking a Head of Creative in Atlanta, GA, to lead their creative strategy and team. The role involves managing creative projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring alignment between creative impact and financial growth. Responsibilities include overseeing web, print, audio, and video content, developing marketing plans, and building partnerships. ABOUT People over Plastic:

Founded in 2020, People over Plastic’s mission is to start inclusive and solutions-oriented dialogues that center environmental justice and power an anti-racist future. As a fiscally sponsored project of the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center, we are the bridge between the environmental justice movement and the creative media industry with a specific focus on amplifying voices from an anti-racist theory of change.

About the Role:

As the Head of Creative at People over Plastic, you will be the creative executive for the organization with a wide range of duties and a long runway to make maximum impact. This role will effectively partner with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure that the creative impact of People over Plastic is in tandem with its financial growth. Leading a team of three individual contributors with room to grow, you will be responsible for developing and executing our creative strategy and team, which includes but is not limited to management, strategic planning of creative projects and workstreams, and oversight of implementation. This role reports directly to the Executive Director.

Objectives of this role:
• Lead and review the work of the creative teams for all web, print, audio, video, and digital marketing collateral
• Spearhead and manage content strategy for both small and large projects, harnessing brand design, copy, art, and digital technology
• Collaborate with the a cross-functional team in developing marketing plans, analyzing results, and identifying opportunities
• Assess feasibility of new and emerging projects and work streams and develop project management pathways forward.
• Develop objectives across the organization into clear and motivating creative strategies
• Meet budget requirements by forecasting and managing expenses
• Actively build partnerships with culturally relevant platforms and influencers with shared values

Your First 90 Days:
• In your first 30 days, you will train with the Executive Director, begin the transition to managing the creative team, and support the implementation of key creative projects.
• In your first 60 days, you will lead the execution of storytelling projects based out of the Gulf South, launch a storytelling partnership out of Appalachia, and deliver on key partnerships to maximize our visibility and reach.
• In your first 90 days, you will establish a concept and timeline for our next podcast season, begin the coordination process for the first edition of a major environmental justice publication housed at PoP, and activate influencer partnerships to elevate our stories.

Your Responsibilities:
• Supervise a cross-functional team in the strategic development of messaging and deliverables
• Manage multiple digital media storytelling campaigns overseeing life cycles including conception, production, quality assurance and implementation.
• Prioritize work and resources across engagements, based on short- and long-term needs, and develop schedules by collaborating with a cross-functional team.
• Conduct brainstorming sessions with creative team, maintaining strategic thinking to develop innovative and actionable initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
• Lead weekly editorial meetings and oversee creative roll out week to week while planning ahead for future media campaigns
• Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring that deliverables address organizational goals and challenges effectively
• Oversee the presentation of final concepts, and obtain approvals for deliverables
• Attend industry conferences, events, and summits in alignment with budgetary capacity and organizational impact
• Travel to different storytelling locations when required

Required skills and qualifications:
• Strong track record of managing teams, consultants, and vendors. Must be a team player with high emotional IQ
• Experience in creating digital storytelling campaigns — from developing the vision and messaging platform to overseeing production on time and within budget
• Strong editorial chops: Evaluate content and make decisions on appropriateness for publication of any PoP material, including final reads of high priority press releases, earned media, paid ads, strategic media partnerships, marketing materials and speeches prepared for in-person events and digital events
• Oversee social media channels and digital strategy to increase brand awareness, engagement, and traffic across all social media platforms
• Ability to grow and develop a large network of creative and environmental professionals, influencers, leaders, and supporters
• Experience in creating integrated content across all marketing channels: digital, social media, paid media, mobile, offline, and print
• Proven ability to develop successful concepts
• Strong creative vision, with an eye on organizational objectives

Preferred skills and qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in marketing or communications
• Experience as an art director, producer, production manager, editor, senior graphic designer, or production artist is preferred
• Experience in project management, with a focus on creative direction
• Experience in writing/producing about climate justice and environmental space is strongly encouraged
• Passionate about original audio, video, and narrative storytelling.

Work Style and Salary:

This is a Full-time position, salaried position. Salary is on target with regional salary expectations and within the salary band targets at People over Plastic. The salary range for this position is between $75,000 - $88,000 (USD). A monthly healthcare reimbursement is available for full time employees.
