The Benton Soil and Water Conservation District is hiring a Habitat Restoration Technician in Foley, MN. Position: Habitat Restoration Technician

The Benton Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Habitat Restoration Technician to join our team. This role is essential in contributing to our mission of conserving natural resources and promoting sustainable land use practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and overseeing wetland habitat restoration and other conservation projects, monitoring ecological health, and engaging with community stakeholders to foster environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities:
• Work directly with private landowners in Benton County who wish to voluntarily restore wetlands and improve habitat on their land.
• Plan, develop, and execute habitat restoration and enhancement projects.
• Conduct site assessments to determine ecological requirements and restoration potential.
• Conduct mapping, surveying, staking, construction monitoring and seeding.
• Monitor restoration sites to assess progress and effectiveness.
• Assist with the implementation of federal farm bill programs such as the Conservation Reserve Program.

Qualifications:
• Possess a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related fields of study appropriate to the position. OR
• Possess an equivalent combination of education and experience at the discretion of the hiring authority.
• Strong knowledge of native and invasive plant species identification and management.
• Proficiency in using restoration tools and equipment, including GPS, GIS, and data collection software.
• Effective communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform fieldwork.
• Possess a Class D or higher driver’s license.
• Pass a background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.92 - $42.72 per hour
