Job Description

POWERTECH PTY LTD is seeking an HV Technician - Rotating Machines for a role involving local, office, and field-based work with national travel. Responsibilities include commissioning/testing HV rotating machines and power generation systems, maintenance testing, and documentation preparation. Candidates need a QLD Electrical Fitter license, 4+ years of experience, and a valid driver’s license. The position emphasizes safety, professionalism, and effective communication.

Description:
This role is a mix of local, office and field-based work and involves national travel on a project-to-project basis. Successful candidates will need to demonstrate strong theoretical and practical knowledge.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Commissioning and testing HV Rotating Machines.
• Commissioning and Testing Power Generation Systems.
• Maintenance testing of HV Rotating Machines, including Partial Discharge
• Assist in preparation of commissioning/testing documentation, test plans and create detailed technical reports on completion of works.
• Carry out JSHAs etc. prior to commencing any new works to identify hazards and implement the necessary controls.
• Primary Testing of HV/LV Transformers (i.e. Tan Delta/Voltage Ratio/Winding Resistance, Oil Sampling)
• Knowledge of ACB/VCB and Switchboard testing

Skills and Experiences:
 Experience, skills and qualifications
• Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter and Mechanics License or Unrestricted QLD Electrical Fitter with 4+ years in a workshop environment, upskilling to Electrical Mechanics Licence available for the right candidate.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience post trade.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• HV Switching Ticket preferred.
• Knowledge of appropriate Australian Standards.
• Proven ability meeting project quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism, and effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
