• Act as an authority within the project team and provide advice on all matters related to grid connections, including standards, best practices, timescales, and trusted contractors.
• Support the development team in reviewing new grid sites and supporting grid offers to develop the future pipeline. To align with CMP 434 submissions and ensure the project meets NESO CP30 targets.
• Undertake design reviews and review commissioning documentation to ensure compliance with grid codes, standards, legislation, and best practice. To review grid compliance studies, including P28 & G5/5, and feed into EE internal stakeholders.
• Negotiate, coordinate, and maintain strong relationships with relevant distribution network operators & transmission system operators, utilities, and regulatory authorities to secure grid connection agreements, permits, and outages.
• Troubleshoot technical issues related to grid connections and provide recommendations for solutions.
• Conduct site visits prior to and during construction to monitor progress, identify risks, and meet contractors / other project stakeholders.
• To stay up to date with current regulatory changes and input into Grid Connection Manager team discussions on supporting documentation for the wider EE group.
Your Profile
• You have a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or an equivalent level of qualification obtained through a vocational route.
• You have experience across the project lifecycle, including design phases, working in cross-functional teams, delivering to timescales, and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
• You have experience in the UK construction industry and possess knowledge of engineering standards and UK Health and Safety legislation.
• You have experience managing grid connection projects during the design, tendering, and construction phases, typically involving connections between 33 kV and 132 kV.
