Job Description

Camden Council is hiring a Green Space Project Officer to lead a borough-wide greening initiative in London. The role involves managing new highways greening projects, collaborating with Transport and Highways teams, and ensuring climate resilience in green space development. Candidates should have knowledge of green space policies, project management skills, and experience in engaging with local communities. This is a full-time position based in London.
Key Role:

Green Space Project Officer (Green Infrastructure Lead)

This role will lead the borough-wide highways greening initiative, aligning with Camden Council's strategic priorities and capitalising on community interest in making Camden a greener borough.

The post will manage green space within the high-profile Camden Transport programme, adopting a mission-oriented approach to delivery. The role will be responsible for delivering new highways greening projects from inception through to completion, working closely with Transport and Highways colleagues.

Recent projects that have been completed in Camden include:
• Goldhurst Terrace
• Flood Risk Management Strategy Case Studies: Camley Street
• Phoenix

Key Objectives:
• Create high performance green space in public highways addressing climate change and lack of access to nature.
• Establish a robust management model for planning and delivering excellent new green space.
• Embed climate resilience within the Transport programme and across the council.
• Ensure sustainable financial planning for new green space resource allocation.
• Develop and implement new green space schemes in the highway.
• Build strategic partnerships with local businesses and community organisations.
• Embed highways greening into long-term council operations.

Job Requirements:

We are seeking someone with a thorough knowledge of green space, landscape, and transport policies in an inner city environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent project management skills and experience in managing landscape and public realm initiatives, including contract procurement and technical knowledge of services interacting with highways and transport projects.

Excellent financial management, budget control, and consultation skills are also required, along with the ability to devise and manage effective engagement exercises with local communities and work closely with elected members and manage public meetings.
