WKC Group is hiring a Graduate Environmental Scientist focused on Marine Ecology in Muntinlupa City, Philippines. The role involves supporting technical report preparation, conducting marine ecology surveys, and assisting in environmental impact assessments. Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and experience in marine studies. The position requires collaboration with the Dubai office and involves local and international opportunities.

The role: WKC is offering opportunities to entry-level applicants and a background in marine ecology/biology-focused environmental consultancy. The role will be based on the WKC’s Los Banos, Laguna office and will be working closely with our UAE’s Dubai office which is WKC’s marine environmental services knowledge hub. The role will largely deal with marine ecology with a cross-over into permitting aspects and analysis of technical information for impact assessment purposes. This will include assisting in marine ecology and biodiversity surveys, environmental monitoring (water quality, sediment quality, noise, etc.) and technical report writing (EIA, environmental management plans, baseline reports etc.).

Responsibilities:
• Support in technical reports preparation and research, including;
• Academic research;
• Data summary and presentation;
• GIS presentation;
• Marine Environmental Baseline Survey reports.
• Support in ESIA/EIA report writing, including;
• Interpretation of technical data into layman’s terms;
• Prepare baseline sections through selection of data relevant to the project;
• Marine impact assessments.
• Support the wider ecology team in project management and client liaison
• Preparation of proposals and liaising with the clients.

For local (Philippines) and international opportunities:
• Support WKC Marine Environmental Surveys, including:
• Benthic habitat identification;
• MMRO;
• Water quality sampling;
• Sediment quality sampling;
• Habitat health assessment (e.g. seagrass and coral);
• Turtle nesting and hatching surveys;
• Drop down video transects;
• SCUBA transects.
• Conduct data and sample analysis, including;
• Benthic infauna ID;
• Plankton ID;
• Video analysis / species identification.

Candidate Requirements;
• Bachelor of Science (BSc) in relevant scientific discipline (Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Marine Science etc.);
• Academic research experience in field studies within marine and aquatic ecosystems;
• Drivers license is an advantage;
• Licensed SCUBA Diver.
