We are currently seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) and database specialist to join our consultant team as a Geographer/Data Manager 3. H3 offers superb benefits, meaningful technical challenges, and a relaxed small office environment.

GIS Specialist Mission: The GIS and database specialist will build and maintain relational and spatial databases, use ArcGIS Pro and other tools to analyze the information in them and create a variety of stock and novel data visualizations to communicate the results.

• Someone with a master’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics (STEM) field with four to ten years’ experience in spatial analysis and data management or a bachelor's degree in a STEM field with over ten years’ experience in spatial analysis and data management.

Required duties, tasks, and responsibilities:
• Develop and manage GIS solutions to grow and improve data management processes.
• Plan and manage GIS workflows to meet company goals and client expectations.
• Develop and manage quality control standards for data.
• Perform data capture, oversee data flow, data management, and data distribution.
• Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server (or similar) databases and data-related internal procedures.
• Verify that GIS users’ workflows are consistent with internal procedures (e.g., that metadata is up-to-date and accurate).
• Remain current on the latest developments in GIS.

Desired qualifications:
• With minimal direction and oversight, proposes, develops, and implements novel solutions to meet internal and external clients' technical challenges.
• Independently performs work in conformance with applicable standards {e.g., procedures, work plans, and HSE standards.
• Strong technical writing skills – capable of developing works plan and reports for complex projects.
• Willing to participate in project-based field work to collect environmental and geospatial data throughout the southwestern United States.
• Knowledge of Python, R, SQL, Arcade or other programing or scripting language

GIS Specialist Expectations:
• Mentors staff in effective and consistent use and management of spatial and non-spatial data.
• Proposes novel approaches and/or solutions to technical challenges as they arise.
• Performs data visualization and interpretation.
• Develop and maintain relational databases and data storage/presentation solutions in Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL Server, EQuIS or similar.
• May serve in a supervisory capacity in field and office settings.
• Work hours dictated by clients’ needs – must be willing to work non-traditional schedule and paid overtime.
• The position is seated in Albuquerque, NM

• Position is situated in Albuquerque, NM - GSA per diem earned while performing overnight field work more than 90 miles from Albuquerque, NM
