Formation Environmental is seeking a full-time Geochemist/Chemist in Boulder, CO, requiring a graduate degree and 10 years of experience. Project Geochemist/Chemist
Boulder, CO
Formation Environmental, LLC (Formation) is currently seeking a full-time, detail-oriented professional
with a strong background in geochemistry, environmental chemistry, chemical engineering, or related
discipline to join our team in Boulder, CO. A graduate degree is preferred and a minimum of 10 years of
practical experience is required. The primary duties will include applying the principles of contaminant
fate and transport to evaluate contaminant source contributions; participating in the planning and
implementation of hydrogeological and geochemical investigations; analyzing and modeling of
geochemical data; preparing interpretive reports; and communicating with clients and regulatory
agencies. Projects may require travel to sites with field investigations varying in scope and duration.
Successful candidates will be part of multidisciplinary teams comprised of various experience levels.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong skills in the following:
• Data organization, interpretation, and presentation (e.g., Excel, ArcGIS, Spatial Analyst,
Geostatistical Analyst, R-Scripting, etc.)
• Experience with industry-standard geochemical software (PHREEQC, Geochemist Workbench,
AquaChem, etc.) and an ability to integrate these with reactive transport and mass balance
simulation software
• Database use (e.g., SQL, Access)
• Evaluation of current and or historical multisource contaminant contributions to the
environment at hazardous waste, mining, and/or petrochemical industry sites
• Knowledge of CERCLA and Natural Resource Damage Assessment regulations
• Creative and innovative problem solving.

In accordance with the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rules, Formation offers benefits for full time
positions. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage along with a 401K plan, short- and
long-term disability, life insurance, vacation and sick days, and additional optional benefits. The salary
range for this position is $80,000 – $115,000 per year, commensurate with education, experience, and
ability.
