Ecohodo is seeking a GHG Accounting & Carbon Market Expert in Mysuru, Karnataka. The role involves analyzing carbon markets, managing offset projects, and implementing GHG accounting frameworks. Job Summary:
The Carbon Market Professionals shall be responsible for analysing and navigating carbon markets; identifying, developing and managing offset projects; and developing and implementing GHG accounting frameworks. The candidate needs to have a deep understanding of carbon regulatory frameworks, GHG accounting standards and project development processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a commitment to environmental sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical services and support to the clients on carbon market strategies and GHG accounting and reporting.
Collaborate with stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector partners, to drive project success and maximize impact.
Perform due diligence on potential project sites and assess the feasibility of new offset projects.
Prepare and submit project documentation, including project design documents (PDDs), GHG inventory reports, monitoring reports, verification reports and other compliance documentation, in accordance with relevant standards.
Monitor and report on the performance of offset projects, including emission reduction outcomes and co-benefits.
Stay updated and provide insights on carbon markets (both, compliance and voluntary), industry trends, regulatory changes, carbon market mechanisms and GHG accounting standards
Implement GHG accounting frameworks and methodologies in accordance with international standards (e.g. ISO 14064, IPCC Guidelines, GHG Protocol)
Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG inventorying and audits for clients, ensuring accurate and transparent reporting of emissions
Develop, implement, and manage carbon offset projects, ensuring they meet international standards and regulatory requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams on carbon market strategies and offset project development.
Contribute to business development efforts by identifying new project opportunities and partnerships in the carbon market
Represent the company at conferences, workshops, and other industry events.
Qualifications:
Bachelors/Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in carbon markets, GHG accounting and offset project development.
Strong knowledge and experience of carbon accounting standards (ISO 14064, IPCC Guidelines, GHG Protocol), carbon measurement techniques and calculation methods for Scopes 1, 2, and 3, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)
Strong understanding of carbon market mechanisms, regulatory frameworks and international standards (e.g., CDM, VCS, Gold Standard).
Proven track record of successfully developing and implementing GHG accounting frameworks and developing and managing carbon offset projects.
Experience on Carbon trading will be an added advantage in selection criteria
