About the position

Future Green Studio, a dynamic landscape design firm located in Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley, is seeking an Assistant Construction Manager to join our diverse team of designers, fabricators, and gardeners. Our firm is committed to sustainable practices and has a diverse portfolio that includes award-winning landscapes for institutions, new construction, and high-end residential projects. The Assistant Construction Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Senior Construction Manager in facilitating installations and managing shop fabrication projects. Our goal is to achieve a high level of craft in a safe, productive, and equitable work environment. In this position, you will be based at Future Green Farm in Chester, NY, where you will assist in overseeing various fabrication and installation projects. Your responsibilities will include helping to obtain the necessary permits and licenses for construction sites, ensuring that shop working methods are efficient and adhered to by staff, and implementing safety protocols. You will also attend weekly staff meetings to discuss upcoming schedules and workflows, produce rough order of magnitude estimates for design projects, and create construction timelines for all projects. Additionally, you will review project specifications, manage submittals, and analyze opportunities for value engineering. As an Assistant Construction Manager, you will be responsible for creating purchase orders, developing a list of RFIs for review, and coordinating logistics for material delivery to the shop. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively while working towards multiple deadlines. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to innovative strategies that integrate landscape into the built environment.

Responsibilities
• Assist Senior Construction Manager in oversight of fabrication and installation projects
,
• Help to obtain the appropriate permits and licenses from authorities for construction sites
,
• Assist in ensuring shop working methods are efficient and adhered to by staff
,
• Assist in ensuring shop safety protocols are implemented and adhered to
,
• Attend weekly staff meetings to discuss upcoming schedule and work flow
,
• Produce rough order of magnitude estimates for design projects
,
• Produce estimates for construction proposals
,
• Produce construction timelines for all projects
,
• Review scope details and specifications for new projects
,
• Review of shop drawing plans, sections and details
,
• Review project specifications and flag items requiring submittals
,
• Responsible for submittals and using the appropriate software
,
• Develop list of RFIs for review with Senior Construction Manager
,
• Help to analyze opportunities for value engineering and comparable product substitutions
,
• Create purchase orders and review with Senior Construction Manager and Accounts Payable Dept
,
• Create subcontractor and vendor contact list for each project
,
• Produce project materials list
,
• Source project materials and vendors to aggregate quotes for cost comparison and lead times
,
• Coordinate logistics and delivery of materials to shop

Requirements
• Four to seven years of construction management experience, preferably in NYC landscape field
,
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
,
• Detail‐oriented with strong organizational skills
,
• Skilled at multitasking and working toward multiple deadlines
,
• Experience managing public, private residential and commercial bids
,
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in sophisticated landscape construction
,
• Experience administering G702 and G703 forms
,
• Proficiency in MS Office - specifically Excel and Project
,
• Proficiency in Autocad and CM software (Procore & Newforma)
,
• Experience in metal fabrication a plus
