The Power Plant Fuel Handling Technician IV is a specialist level technician that operates stationary and mobile (heavy) equipment and assists in the maintenance efforts of the electric generating unit equipment. Perform duties in accordance with plant, corporate and environmental procedures to meet the fuel needs of the generating units. Execute shift duties in a manner to assure high equipment availability. Key Responsibilities - Ensures their team strives to achieve World Class Safety Performance by maintaining a safe working environment for employees and contractors, complying with all safety rules, procedures, and regulations and creating a culture of safety in the workplace and jobsite. Ensures the team is equipped with all the necessary tools and training to work safely, protect workers and achieve outstanding safety results. - Operates the fuel handling stationary equipment in a manner to consistently meet the fuel needs of the generating unit. Safeguards equipment during operation to avoid equipment damage and housekeeping issues. Operates the systems in an environmentally responsible and safe manner. - Performs minor maintenance activities when on shift and supports plant maintenance as required especially during outages. Performs shift inspections daily to ensure proactive maintenance and prevent catastrophic failures. Investigates and reports equipment issues to improve the overall maintenance efforts of the fuel handling systems. - Manages the fuel storage pile to prevent run-off and fuel degradation. Maintains plant roads as required to allow for safe travel on the site. - Assists entry-level fuel handling technicians to help train and support them in their job responsibilities. - Communicates with supervisor to provide updates on fuel handling activities, and identify risks. - Champions a corporate culture that emphasizes transparency, integrity, safety, environmental responsibility, employee development, diversity and inclusion, customer service, and operational excellence.
