Great Lakes Urban Forestry is hiring Forestry Survey Technicians in Batavia, IL, for tree inventory projects across the Great Lakes region. Applicants must be ISA Certified Arborists, possess strong tree identification skills, and be willing to work out of state. The role involves fieldwork and data collection, with a standard 40-hour workweek and opportunities for overtime. Compensation ranges from $22.50 to $30.00 per hour, plus benefits.

Great Lakes Urban Forestry Management of Batavia, IL and LaPorte County, IN, is currently seeking to hire Forestry Survey Technicians for collecting data for large scale tree inventories.

It is required that the applicant be an ISA Certified Arborist. We offer excellent compensation and benefits in an extremely positive work environment, which allows all team members to grow both personally and professionally.

Our projects are in a four state Great Lakes region (IL, IN, MI, WI), so applicant must be willing to work out of state on an overnight basis for several days at a time. Must be able to work in inhospitable weather environments such as wind, rain, high heat, and extreme cold. The applicant must be an ISA Certified Arborist, have valid Driver’s License, and be able to pass a criminal background check.

Applicants must be able to operate Handheld GPS units, and have strong tree identification skills. Must be willing to learn other Geographic Information Systems (GIS) softwares and technologies. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. GIS-Based Tree and Natural Resource Inventory

2. Perform rudimentary Tree Risk Assessments

3. Report preparation

4. Interaction with GIS data

5. Work on a team that creates Urban Forestry Management Plans

Job Description: Forestry Survey Technician

The Forestry Survey Technician works under the supervision of the Division Manager (Leslie Delles) and/or Company Owner (Phil Graf), in areas such as tree inventory projects, reforestation or tree planting planning, or any other urban forestry consulting projects in which there is a need to collect data. This is an “out in the field” position.

A 40-hour week is standard, but overtime is available on a voluntary or “as-needed” basis.

Wage structure and Benefit Package

Wage:

- $22.50-30.00/hr. based on experience level and qualifications/certifications.
0-40 hours/week

- Time and half pay for 41 hours and over/week
