Food Technologist

Urban Farmer LLC is hiring a Food Technologist in Manteno, IL, responsible for supporting product development and scale-up. Duties include lab support, ingredient management, sample shipment, and maintaining safety standards. Candidates should have a food science degree or relevant experience, strong organizational and communication skills, and proficiency in computer software. The position requires physical activity in a cold environment and involves both desk work and hands-on tasks.
Job Summary:

The Food Technologist is responsible for supporting all aspects of product development and scale-up. Key functions include supporting Scientist lab work, reviewing and planning ingredient requests, product sample shipment, and formula updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Support daily lab development of products and processes by pre-batching ingredients and producing samples for team member evaluations
• Support plant scale-up by documenting trial info, collecting samples, and arranging sample shipment
• Own and handle sample request processes
• Ensure cleanliness of innovation kitchen
• Establish and update SOPs for procedures on product preparation, lab validation, as well as equipment
• Be a champion for Food Safety, Lab safety, and Plant Safety
• Other responsibilities as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must have a degree in food science or other related degree or a minimum of 2 years' experience in a food or beverage technologist role. Individual must have thorough understanding of project management, organization & food processing. Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary. Incumbent must show great time management, organization, and teamwork skills. The individual must have advanced computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to perform assigned tasks and report metrics.
