Agric Organics is hiring a full-time Food Access Farm Field Worker in Springfield, MA. The role involves hands-on field work, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and farm maintenance. Job Description
We are looking for a dependable, hard-working individual to join our farm crew. This position involves hands-on work in the fields, including planting, cultivating, harvesting, and general farm maintenance. If you enjoy working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a team that helps grow fresh, healthy food for the community, we'd love to hear from you.
Employment Type: Full-Time; 36 - 40 hours/week starting in April 2025 with an opportunity to work all year round on the field or in other parts of the business (i.e., farm store, warehouse)
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Perform day-to-day farm activities such as planting, cultivating, post-harvest duties, weeding, pest management, field and bed preparation, and irrigation.
• Operate essential farm equipment safely (training provided).
• Follow directions from the Field Manager and work efficiently as a team.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, tools, and equipment.
• Work in all weather and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Adhere to all safety and hygiene protocols.
• Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation
• Manage several acres of our farmland and multiple greenhouses
• Oversee livestock (i.e., chickens)
• Perform manual labor
• Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes
• Ability to use non-precision and precision hand tools
• Ability to communicate in written effectively and verbal form
• Farm maintenance and cleanup
Requirements
Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds,
• Ability to learn new systems, methods, or processes
• Ability to use non-precision and precision hand tools
• Ability to work well with other team members
• Punctual, reliable, and able to work in a team setting.
• Enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture and local food is a plus.
Job Qualifications:
• Must be 18 years of age or older to be employed for this role
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to provide and lead others to provide prompt and courteous customer service
• Ability to evaluate and drive performance of self and others
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to stay organized and multi-task in a professional efficient manner, following instructions and giving attention to detail
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous farm or outdoor labor experience
