Job Description

JOB DUTIES: Assist Fisheries Research and Management Division staff with field collection of fish community data, aquatic habitat assessment, and angler use data from reservoirs and lakes across Nebraska. This position is also anticipated to provide additional support for research efforts at Lake Ogallala, Harlan County Reservoir, and Lake McConaughy which may involve statewide travel and overnight stays. Fish community sampling techniques include boat electrofishing, trap nets, gill nets and seines. Assist with fish age determinations from otolith, scale and spines collected in the field, and subsequent computer data entry. This position will also be expected to assist with equipment maintenance, outdoor education programs and other related responsibilities as assigned. Interactions with the public are common for this position and successful candidates should feel comfortable communicating with aquatic recreation participants.

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:1 year experience OR 1 year coursework/training in fisheries management, natural resources, biology, and/or agriculture.
