Job Description

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is hiring four permanent-seasonal Fish and Wildlife Technician 2s in Soldotna, AK. These technicians will work primarily in remote field camps, assisting with the installation and maintenance of weirs and conducting data collection on Pacific Salmon. They will work under the supervision of Fishery Biologists and be part of a two-person crew focused on salmon enumeration and quality control.
The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Commercial Fisheries Division, is seeking four permanent-seasonal Fish and Wildlife Technician (FWT) 2s. The duty station for these positions is in Soldotna, AK but will primarily work out of remote field camps at Judd, Chelatna, or Larson Lake weir camps. These positions will be responsible for assisting with the installation, operation and maintenance of either a floating or fixed picket weir and camp mobilization and demobilization. Under the general supervision of a Fishery Biologist 2 and a Fishery Biologist 1, the technicians will be part of a two-person crew to identify and enumerate all five species of Pacific Salmon. A subsample of sockeye salmon will be collected for age, sex and length (ASL) and daily quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) will be completed.
