Job Description
The State of Vermont is seeking a Seasonal Fisheries Technician I for a temporary position in Roxbury, VT, starting around April 21, 2025, and ending on October 31, 2025. Responsibilities include assisting with trout stocking, electrofishing surveys, and fish habitat monitoring. Candidates should have an associate degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. A valid driver’s license and physical capability to lift 50 lbs are required.

Overview
Responsibilities: The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department announces an exciting opportunity to work with fish in the Green Mountain State! This position is based out of Roxbury and will assist the district fisheries biologist to help with trout stocking, electrofishing surveys, fish habitat work, water temperature monitoring and fish community monitoring. A successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team and independently after training. This position will require working outdoors sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
Start date: April 21, 2025 (flexible) End Date: October 31, 2025 (flexible).
Minimum Requirements
Associate degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field, OR a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of work experience in a natural resources field. A successful candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, is familiar with scientific data collection and will interact courteously with the public. A valid driver’s license and the ability to lift at least 50lbs are required.
