Join the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) as a Finance Manager. In this influential role, you'll lead a dedicated team to implement and enhance UKCEH's policies and practices, ensuring alignment with our ISO-accredited standards and commitment to continuous improvement. By providing expert advice and guidance to senior stakeholders, you'll foster cross-organisational collaboration, ensuring UKCEH not only meets but exceeds its compliance and regulatory obligations. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Manage a team of Finance professionals to deliver operational objectives, ensuring the organisation is compliant with all policies, procedures, and processes and meets all applicable risk, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Act as key contact to build effective working relationships internally within the organization and also to external stakeholders. Delivery of high-quality professional services and communications, thus improving awareness, understanding and resolving queries.
• Deliver monthly/quarterly reporting metrics and KPIs, providing advice, identifying key trends and contributing insights that enable stakeholder understanding and the diagnosis of operational and financial performance. Enhancements to process delivery/efficiency and organisational performance are then delivered as a result.
• Where appropriate answer ad hoc queries and deliver analytics/reporting to identify and explain key trends that contribute to the stakeholder understanding and/or improvement of business performance.
• Supporting the head of function to deliver the strategic objectives and central projects through delivery of own team goals. Personally contribute to the development and evolution of overall strategy and objectives through constructive dialogue and challenging the status quo.
For the role of a Finance Manager, we're looking for somebody who has:
• Qualification in a relevant professional area or equivalent level of experience.
• Up to date knowledge of external regulations and best practice in specialist area
• Cross functional Finance experience
• Excellent presentational, communication and delivery skills
• Extensive team and stakeholder management
• Ability to objectively review operations & procedures and manage change
• Desirable but not essential:
• Tax/VAT experience
• Charity accounting experience
• ERP systems (Workday)
