Job Description
Marathon Staffing is hiring a Field Worker I - Energy Resources in Mesa, AZ, offering $22.22 per hour for a full-time, temporary position. The role involves on-the-job training for construction and maintenance tasks related to gas and utility distribution systems. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, relevant experience, and a valid Arizona Driver License. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage.

Hourly Pay $22.22
Monday – Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Full Time (40 hours per week), Temporary (1 Year Assignment)
Located in East Mesa

What you’ll be doing
Learning to perform the full scope of duties of a Field Worker II through on-the-job training involving a variety of general manual labor and equipment-assisted construction and maintenance tasks gaining a considerable understanding of a gas distribution utility system.
You will be responsible for…
Assist Field Worker II and Equipment Operators, based on assignment with construction, maintenance, and repair of the City’s gas utility distribution systems.
Construction, maintenance, and repairs of the City’s water and wastewater utility systems.
Operate a variety of construction equipment; dump truck, front-end loader, boring equipment, boom truck, or backhoe.
Manual labor tasks; basic plumbing, pipefitting installation, repair and maintenance duties.
Work around energized power lines, water and sewer mains, natural gas lines and working in deep trenches.
Other duties as assigned.
What skills & experience you’ll bring to us
Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED.
Training, knowledge or experience in the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of a gas distribution utility system; knowledge and understanding of flammable gases, preferred.
One year of experience involving outdoor exposure and physical exertion and/or one year of experience operating construction equipment or heavy trucks or other related equipment.
Must possess a valid Arizona Driver License.
Must be able to obtain through the City of Mesa an Operator Qualification in accordance with 49 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 192 within one year of hire date.
This class is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing as outlined in 49 CFR Part 199 for the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) AND Part 382 for the FMCSA.
