Field Leader - Environmental

LJA Engineering is seeking a Field Leader in Environmental for their Charleston, SC location. The role involves field tasks such as wetland delineations and habitat assessments, requiring a basic understanding of environmental laws and GIS services. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, a relevant degree, and 0-2+ years of experience. The position is full-time and requires both fieldwork and office work, with physical demands including lifting and driving.

General Responsibilities:
• Ability to perform a variety of field tasks including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species studies, habitat assessments, tree surveys etc.
• Basic understanding of Clean Water Act (CWA), Endangered Species Act (ESA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
• Perform basic GIS services as needed.
• Assist with report preparation as needed.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to build strong relationships.
• Excellent writing, communication, and client engagement skills, as well as budget management.

Required Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree

Required Experience:
• 0-2+ years of experience

Certifications:
• Seeking Certified Natural Resources Professional (CNRP), Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Certified Arborist (CA), Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS) or other
• Seeking or has completed Wetland Delineation Training

Physical Requirements:
• Sit for extended periods of time working on computer
• Driving to and from various project locations
• Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Position requires approximately 50% of time in the field, applicant must be able to work in all weather conditions
