Field Geologist / Environmental Scientist

Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services, LLC is currently seeking an entry level or experienced Geologist / Environmental Scientist for its Environmental Site Investigation, Engineering & Remediation Group in Chicago, IL. Pioneer specializes in providing environmental investigation, engineering and remediation services, geotechnical investigation/engineering and construction materials testing services. Compensation will be based on experience.

Job responsibilities include the following:
• Working on a drill rig to collect soil and groundwater samples for environmental and geotechnical site investigation services.
• Logging and classifying soils during sample collection.
• Sampling, slug testing and surveying groundwater monitoring wells.
• Collection of soil gas samples.
• Field oversight for the removal of underground storage tanks.
• Field oversight for the performance of environmental site remediation.
• Preparation of field notes and other site documentation for environmental investigations.

Requirements:
• B.A./B.S. in Geology or Environmental Sciences
• Valid Driver’s License
• U.S. Citizen or authorized to work in United States
• Willing to work outside in heat and cold
• On occasion, long hours and occasional weekends
• Heavy lifting at occasional times throughout the day
• A positive attitude and are a team player
• Occasional multi-day travel

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
