Job Description
Tetra Tech is seeking a Field Environmental Technician in Los Angeles, CA, to support disaster response efforts by collecting and sampling soil and debris from wildfire-affected areas. Candidates should have at least two years of experience in environmental sampling and monitoring. Responsibilities include field inspections, employee supervision, and oversight of abatement projects. This temporary position offers a chance to contribute to community restoration efforts.

Tetra Tech Inc. is currently seeking a Field Environmental Technician for its Disaster Response Division. The selected candidate will be collecting and sampling soil and debris from area burned by the wildfires. Previous experience in environmental sampling is required. The selected candidate will help support a local abatement oversight project. This position will involve oversight of abatement, air monitoring, asbestos air clearance sampling, and calibration and maintenance of field equipment. The position may also include collection of bulk samples for asbestos.
Technicians will conduct field inspections and evaluations to include air, water, sail, and building materials. Other duties include employee supervision, worksite monitoring, and abatement observation.

Qualifications:
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting stormwater bmp assessment, monitoring, and/or installation on debris removal and hazard tree removal Operations or similar projects.
• A minimum of two (2) years of environmental site assessments for disaster debris removal Operations and/or environmental remediation or environmental assessment soil sampling experience. Alternatively, may have experience conducting environmental field monitoring programs or other comparable background.
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience conducting ambient and construction related air monitoring sampling equipment setup and take down on debris removal and hazard tree removal Operations or similar projects.
• The successful candidate will have a positive attitude, be detail-oriented, and be able to travel locally.
• Must be able to manage time well and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.
• Must be highly motivated, client focused and work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, client interaction and organizational skills are a must.
• Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and pass a motor vehicle records check.
• 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification and pass a successful fit test.
• Environmental Engineering or Science Degree preferred
• Ability to work 12 hour days
Pay Rate: $30.00 per hour
It is understood that your employment is to be on an "at will" basis. This position with Tetra Tech is temporary and on an "as-needed" basis and will end once the project is complete.
