Job Description

The Facilities Energy and Sustainability Coordinator at Manatee County Government in Bradenton, FL, focuses on tracking facility performance and implementing sustainability initiatives. Responsibilities include conducting energy audits, managing conservation projects, collaborating with departments, and developing sustainability plans. The role requires a bachelor's degree or related experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and a valid Florida driver's license. The position involves both indoor and outdoor work.
Work Location: 1112 Manatee Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida 34205
Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Expected Starting Hourly Range: $27.61 - $34.51

This position tracks facilities' performance, uses and administers asset management applications, uses drones to support data collection, implements resilience and sustainability initiatives, and recommends solutions for facilities (including buildings) to improve operation efficiency. Other responsibilities include planning events and workshops, creating training programs, assisting with grant project management, and developing outreach programs.

Working Conditions:
A combination of indoor environment and field work in outdoor conditions will be required.

Essential Functions

Maintain, update, propose, and create energy, resiliency, and sustainability policies and guidelines.

Maintain the Manatee County’s Building Designed and Product Catalog.

Assist or coordinate energy audits of county facilities to identify areas for improvement, analyze energy consumption data, and track progress toward energy reduction targets.

Overseeing or collaborating in the implementation of conservation projects, such as building envelops retrofits, renewable energy installations, and water-saving technologies.

Collaborating with different county departments, implementing resiliency and sustainability initiatives.

Manage, coordinate, and lead the execution of on-site field testing related to whole-building air and water leakage testing using thermal imagery and UAS drones.

Contributing to the development and implementation of comprehensive sustainability and resiliency plans for the County, aligning with local, state, and federal environmental goals.

Identifying and applying for grant opportunities to support resiliency and sustainability initiatives.

Assist property management to keep track of asset inventory as well as building and facilities information.

Reporting, tracking, and creating performance indicators (KPIs) dashboards of facility performance (ex, energy, and water). Using Energy Star Portfolio Manager, GIS, or any other related software.

Using a tablet with the Magic Plan app and a Bluetooth laser measuring tool or related technology, capture interior measurements for building interior data and transfer the data to AutoCAD. Process the data using AutoCAD for asset management.

Performs related work (weather or other extreme emergency duties) as required.

A bachelor’s degree, associate degree in environmental, sustainability, or resiliency preferred.

Two (2) years' experience in building and sciences, building operations, building and facilities equipment or related fields preferred.

Two (2) years of experience implementing resiliency and sustainability initiatives preferred.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

Must have a valid driver's license with a Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

The ideal candidate must be familiar with building and facilities operations and equipment.

The ideal candidate must be familiar with AutoCAD software.

LEED Certification desired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work in a team environment as well as the ability to work independently.

Effective Communication skills – Writing, Speaking, and Presenting to high level audience.

Drone operations skills is a plus.

Knowledge of building structural elements and environmentally friendly system upgrades.

Understanding of Autodesk Auto CAD, and GIS Esri products. Experience is a plus.

Understanding of architectural/engineering drawings and specifications for projects.

Knowledge and understanding of resiliency and sustainability initiatives and implementation.
