Job Description

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a Fish and Game Captain in California to manage telecommunications and technology for the Law Enforcement Division. Responsibilities include liaising with technology divisions, managing record systems, overseeing dispatch services, and coordinating law enforcement telecommunications. The position requires in-office work, is permanent and full-time, and includes various administrative duties and collaboration with allied agencies.
The Captain’s primary duties will include serving as the Telecommunications/Technology Manager for the Law Enforcement Division (LED). Serve as the liaison with the Division of Technology and Data (DTD) in the development, testing, and deployment of telecommunications systems and technology, which includes the development of the radio system, wireless communications systems and establishment of new technology systems for the LED. Attends meetings and represents the Law Enforcement Division on various Department committees; works closely with DTD on all advancement in technologies for LED; manage LED’s Record Management System; manage LED’s Electronic Daily Activity Reports and statistical analysis reporting. The position will be the Contract Manager for Dispatch Services; which will entail working with Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) communication centers and their staff, annual review of dispatch service contracts. This Captain will also be the Agency California Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (CLETS) Coordinator, monitoring, representing and authorizing all CLETS activity initiated by the LED. The Captain’s position will also be responsible for the development, testing and installation of all code 3 equipment installed in all vessels and vehicles within the LED. The position will be required to review and comment on technical and administrative documents as well as work with several allied agencies including DPR, the Office of Emergency Services (OES) Public Safety Communications, and the Department of Justice. The position will report to the LED Technologies Assistant Chief as well as perform all other duties assigned by HQ staff.

This is a statewide recruitment that is eligible to be filled within any California County.
