The Experiential Graphics Designer at ls3p in Charleston, SC, will create immersive visual experiences in architectural spaces, collaborating with architects and designers. Responsibilities include developing graphic concepts, wayfinding systems, and environmental branding elements while ensuring compliance with standards. The role requires a creative designer passionate about enhancing user interaction with physical spaces and managing multiple projects from concept to installation.
As an Experiential Graphics Designer, you will be at the forefront of creating captivating and immersive visual experiences within architectural spaces. Your role is to infuse creativity and purpose into the built environment, enhancing the way people interact with and perceive physical spaces. Collaborating closely with architects, interior designers, and project teams, you'll conceptualize, design, and implement graphics, signage, wayfinding systems, and environmental branding elements that leave a lasting impact on users.

Your work will encompass everything from translating design concepts into tangible graphics to selecting materials that ensure both durability and aesthetic appeal. You'll be responsible for developing comprehensive wayfinding solutions that seamlessly guide individuals through complex spaces while adhering to accessibility and regulatory standards. Moreover, you'll have the opportunity to incorporate environmental branding elements that tell a story and establish a sense of place within each architectural project.

As an Experiential Graphics Designer, you'll play a pivotal role in communicating the identity and values of our clients and our firm itself. Your designs will not only beautify spaces but also convey messages, create atmospheres, and evoke emotions. Your work will extend beyond the screen or canvas, leaving a tangible mark on the physical world.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Project Teams:
• Work closely with architects, interior designers, project managers, and fabricators to integrate experiential graphics into architectural projects.
• Participate in project meetings to understand project goals and design requirements.

Graphic Design and Concept Development:
• Develop creative and innovative graphic concepts that align with the project's vision and objectives.
• Create mood boards, sketches, and digital renderings to communicate design ideas.
• Prepare design documents that detail intent, specifications, and production.

Wayfinding and Signage Systems:
• Design wayfinding signage systems that guide users seamlessly through architectural spaces.
• Ensure compliance with local building codes and accessibility standards.
• Read architectural plans and create design drawings to scale.

Environmental Branding:
• Develop and/or work within existing brand standards to implement environmental strategies that reflect the client's brand identity and values.
• Create graphics, murals, signage suites, and other visual elements that enhance the atmosphere and identity of the space.

Material Selection:
• Consider accessibility, durability, maintenance, and aesthetic qualities when selecting materials.
• Work with fabricator and client to assess needs, research and recommend materials suitable for graphic installations within architectural environments, offer alternatives if needed for VE.

Project Management:
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept to installation, ensuring they meet deadlines and budget constraints.
• Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and fabricators as needed.

Client Communication:
• Present design concepts and progress updates to clients and project stakeholders.
• Solicit and incorporate feedback to refine designs and meet client expectations.

Quality Control:
• Conduct site visits to oversee graphic installations and ensure they meet design specifications.
• Address any issues or modifications required during the installation phase.

Stay Informed:
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in experiential graphics design.
• Attend relevant workshops and conferences to enhance professional knowledge.

Qualifications:
• 5+ Years Experiential Graphic Design experience preferably in architectural or design industry
• Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Environmental Design, Architecture, Visual Communications or a related field.
• Expert proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, as well as proficiency in CAD Tools) and familiarity with 3D modeling/rendering tools (e.g., SketchUp). Hand-rendering and illustration skills are a plus.
• Strong understanding of architectural and interior design principles.
• Knowledge of ADA guidelines, national codes and standards, and familiarity researching municipal regulatory ordinances.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel to project sites within the Southeast region as needed
• Project management experience and the ability to multitask effectively.
