About the position
The California Council of Land Trusts (CCLT) is seeking a collaborative, versatile, and strategic Executive Director to lead conservation efforts across California. This position is pivotal in advancing the mission of CCLT through thought leadership, policy advocacy, funding support, and educational initiatives on behalf of the land trust community. The Executive Director will be responsible for empowering a network of over 70 land trusts, ensuring they can act cohesively across both urban and rural landscapes in California. In this role, the Executive Director will have the opportunity to shape the future of conservation in California, addressing current challenges and leveraging opportunities for the land trust community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, with a proven track record in coalition building, policy advocacy, and championing conservation initiatives that benefit all Californians. This position requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex issues and inspire a dedicated team to achieve shared goals. The Executive Director will also be responsible for overseeing the organization's operations, managing relationships with stakeholders, and representing CCLT at various meetings and conferences. Responsibilities
• Lead and support a small, dedicated team to advance the mission of CCLT.

• Build coalitions and advocate for shared policy agendas related to land conservation.

• Champion conservation initiatives that benefit diverse communities across California.

• Manage relationships with stakeholders, including land trusts, government agencies, and community organizations.

• Represent CCLT at meetings and conferences, promoting the organization's goals and initiatives.

• Oversee the organization's operations and ensure effective program delivery.
Requirements
• Proven experience in a leadership role, preferably within a nonprofit or conservation organization.

• Strong background in policy advocacy and coalition building.

• Demonstrated ability to manage and inspire a team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience in fundraising and securing financial support for conservation initiatives.
