About the position
The Environmental Tech II position at Waste Management in San Antonio, TX, supports the Sustainability Services onsite program, focusing on hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. This role involves manual labor related to chemical handling, waste segregation, and compliance with environmental regulations, ensuring safe and efficient waste processing.
Responsibilities
• Ensure waste types are properly segregated and regulatory shipment windows are met.

• Maintain proper container labeling and good housekeeping practices.
,
• Track waste management logs accurately.
,
• Identify best practices for waste reduction and operational efficiency.
,
• Segregate, label, mark, and package waste materials safely and compliantly.
,
• Collect, pour, transfer, consolidate, and package solid, liquid, and sludge materials.
,
• Perform labor-intensive activities such as drum collection and sorting recyclables.
,
• Transfer waste into containers of different sizes.
,
• Provide labor support at the 90-Day Hazardous Waste Pad when applicable.
,
• Support or direct less experienced Technicians as needed.
,
• Wear required personal protective equipment and participate in safety processes.
,
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents, or injuries to the supervisor.
,
• Follow Environmental and Quality Management System policies and procedures.
Requirements
• Associate's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with two years of relevant work experience.

• Ability to obtain 24-hour HAZWOPER certification within 30 days of employment.
,
• Preferred experience in RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance.
,
• Preferred experience in manifesting hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
,
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Experience with RCRA and DOT regulatory compliance.

• 24-hour HAZWOPER certification or equivalent.
