Job Description
AECOM is actively expanding the Impact Assessment & Permitting (IAP) team and is seeking an Environmental Team Lead for the Burnaby office within the Environment, Ecology, and Permitting Department . The successful candidate will be responsible for team management and will demonstrate a Manager Mindset —balancing delivering excellent work while supporting the team. In this role, you will build productive networks across diverse technical teams, create an inclusive workplace, and provide opportunities for team members to reach their full potential, ensuring the team's success. You will operate with ethics and integrity, prioritizing quality outcomes and team safety.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Develop, manage, and oversee all staff and projects for those directly reporting to this position.
• Coordinate, manage, and direct project fieldwork and data collection efforts.
• Develop, manage, and implement business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and deliverables.
• Promote a culture of high-quality work and Health & Safety within the team.
• Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
• Oversee recruiting, interviewing, and orienting new team members.
• Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
• Manage team billable hours and forecast utilization requirements.
• Set strategic team goals aligned with the environmental business line and evaluate outcomes.
• Motivate and inspire the team while facilitating career development and growth.
• Communicate job expectations to staff.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and productive work environment.
• Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
In addition to management responsibilities, you will also complete technical work in your area of expertise and collaborate with other business lines to cross-sell IAP services to clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Required :
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, Wetlands, Soils, or a related earth science field + 8 years of experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Preferred :
• 12 years of experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
• R.P.Bio designation
• High degree of self-motivation and ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong organizational management skills and attention to detail.
• Self-driven, hardworking, and motivated.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Work experience in environmental consulting, with technical expertise in an environmental discipline such as aquatics, vegetation, wildlife, soils, reclamation, or permitting.
• Previous experience managing a technical team.
Additional Information
• Company paid relocation is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $105,000.00 - $140,000.00.
