Sun Technical is hiring an Environmental Sustainability Consultant in Atlanta, GA. The role involves preparing environmental documentation for transportation projects, analyzing environmental data, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Key responsibilities include preparing NEPA documents and coordinating with clients and agencies. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 5-10 years of experience with NEPA requirements, along with strong communication and analytical skills.
Job Summary:
Sun Technical is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner to join its Atlanta, GA office. As an Environmental Planner, you will work on preparing environmental documentation for transportation projects, analyzing and evaluating environmental data, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and evaluate environmental data pertaining to cultural, social, natural, and physical environments and resources
- Prepare NEPA documents, including Need and Purpose Statements, Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements
- Ensure NEPA documentation conforms to applicable laws, regulations, and policies
- Coordinate with sub-consultants, government agencies, primary clients, and public
- Consult with clients to advise and develop strategies to navigate through the environmental documentation and permitting processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban or Environmental Planning, Environmental Studies, or related field
- Five to ten years of experience with NEPA requirements and document preparation
- Preparation of NEPA documentation for Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) or other federal transportation agencies
- Experience with State Departments of Transportation, particularly GDOT Plan Development Process (PDP), is a plus
- Knowledge of commonly used computer software (Word and Excel) expected
- Excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work in a team environment, managing environmental staff as well as collaborating with other Environmental Planning peers
