Your Role at Cabot
Cabot Corporation is seeking an Environmental Specialist to join the Canal team at the Franklin, LA location.
You will play a critical role in ensuring environmental compliance support for local, state, and federal regulations in the areas of air, waste, and water for plant operations. Some of your main areas of focus will be:
Handling the annual, semi-annual, quarterly and weekly reporting for various environmental sectors
• Maintaining data management for environmental tracking
• Applying knowledge of regulatory permits to daily activities. Ex. Title V, Soild Waste, LPDES, Hazardous Waste
• Participating in inspections
• Supporting each department in the training and implementation of environmental procedures and guidance
This is an ideal role for professionals who enjoy analyzing data for reporting and looking to make a site-wide impact at one of Cabot's largest carbon black facilities.
How You Will Make an Impact
• Collect, analyze, evaluate, and distribute SH&E management information. Create and/or run reports for distribution to management. Monitoring safety and health performance by running reports. Provide recommendations, as appropriate, for improvements to SH&E programs.
• Investigate accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards or uncomfortable conditions in the workplace. Recommend improvements in processes, design, procedures, and operating equipment to minimize the hazard potential.
• Provide regulatory interpretation and technical advice.
• Participate in internal committees and teams, as appropriate.
• Track and monitor existing and pending regulations and make recommendations, as appropriate
• Participate in SH&E audits, Internal & external as appropriate.
• Assist staff and managers in assessing and achieving corporate goals and objectives.
• Maintain working knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies.
• Assist in the design and conduct of SH&E employee and contractor training programs.
• Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001.
• You will serve as a direct communication link between the Environmental Department and Production, Technical, Maintenance, WPS and Capitol.
• You will prepare and submit regulatory and corporate reports to meet deadlines.
• Assist with data collection as it pertains to Waste, Water, Air and Sustainability.
• Conduct Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, & Annual inspections.
What You Will Bring to Cabot
• Bachelor/University degree in engineering or applicable science.
• 3+ years of experience in an environmental capacity.
• Experience related to air, waste and water management is highly preferred.
• Experience with data management related to environmental tracking.
• Manufacturing industry experience highly preferred.
• Technical capabilities in specialty area for Microsoft Office required.
• ASPEN experience is preferred.
• Planning, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Data management.
