Job Description

HSAGP Energy is seeking an Environmental Specialist in Kingston, GA, responsible for minimizing environmental pollution and ensuring compliance with environmental laws in battery manufacturing. The role includes assessing work environments, implementing management programs, and collaborating with teams to address environmental issues. Candidates should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field. The position requires physical presence at production sites and involves exposure to various work environments.
HSAGP (Hyundai-SK America Green Power) Energy LLC is Hyundai Motor Group and SK On’s joint venture company to produce batteries for EVs. The joint venture plans to invest $5 billion to build an EV battery cell plant in Bartow County, Georgia. Hyundai Motor Group and SK On will each hold a 50 percent stake in the joint venture.

The new plant is expected to begin manufacturing battery cells in the first half of 2026 with an annual production capacity of 35 GWh, enough to support the production of 300,000 EVs per year. The plant’s location in northwest Georgia is strategically situated near Hyundai Motor Group’s current and future U.S. facilities.

Summary:

The Environmental Specialist in EH&S is responsible for minimizing environmental pollution (air, water, soil, waste, chemical substances, noise, and vibration) and ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations related to battery manufacturing. This role assesses work environments, implements environmental management programs, and collaborates with engineers, production teams, vendors, and local communities to resolve environmental issues.

Key Areas of Responsibility:
• Environmental Pollution Assessment and Compliance
• Assess and reduce environmental pollution caused by manufacturing processes and equipment (design, construction, operations, maintenance, disposal).
• Monitor and report whether emission and disaster prevention facilities meet regulatory requirements.
• Environmental Management
• Develop and implement environmental management standards and procedures (air, water, waste, soil, greenhouse gases).
• Maintain and manage emission prevention systems for air, water, wastewater, and chemicals.
• Research environmental monitoring services and establish contracts.
• Create and manage waste reduction and recycling programs.
• Define criteria for waste storage, transportation, and treatment.
• Oversee vendor compliance with waste disposal guidelines.
• Communications
• Report environmental status to government agencies and take corrective actions as needed.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities, customers, and community members; provide environmental information as required.

Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline.

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Physical & Mental Demands
• Work in production sites may require wearing PPE, including safety shoes, helmet, safety glasses, and portable gas detection equipment.

Work Environment
• Exposure to office, production, and construction environments.
• Risks include:
• Noise over 90 dB (e.g., compressor rooms)
• High temperatures (104–122°F)
• Hazardous materials
