What We Need YOU To Do

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Drinking and Groundwater (DDAGW) in our Central Office in Columbus.

Ah, there you are.

As Ohio EPA’s environmental specialist, you’ll serve as the statewide lead for the coordination and oversight of DDAGW’s division specific inspector training and operator certification program. You’ll provide general technical guidance, consultation, and training to personnel regarding the Division’s programs for operator certification, sanitary surveys, and facility evaluation. You’ll coordinate operator certification activities with the Operator Certification Advisory Council, the Division of Surface Water and with other agencies to ensure adequate communications and compliance with program standards. You’ll also assist in drafting and developing statewide guidelines and procedures.

Additionally, you’ll schedule and track activities performed by staff regarding the division’s statewide inspection audit program and the operator certification program, as well as acting as the lead in developing and overseeing a statewide program to ensure significant deficiencies and violations are resolved properly. You’ll coordinate and facilitate communication between districts by acting as the liaison for the division’s inspector consistency workgroup and participate on the sanitary survey workgroup. You’ll also assist in developing, updating, and implementing the division’s sanitary survey manual. You’ll get to perform specially assigned inspections of public water systems and prepare written reports and letters resulting from such activities.

• Scheduling and tracking of division’s statewide inspection audit program.
• Act as lead in developing and overseeing statewide program to ensure significant deficiencies and violations are resolved in accordance with division policies.
• Act as lead in performing district requested reviews of contingency plans.
• Act as the lead in maintaining the division’s Emergency Response Plan.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and provide communication between districts by acting as the liaison for the division’s inspector consistency workgroup.
• Take the lead in reviewing division program policies and procedures to ensure statewide uniformity and consistency in the district application of the state drinking water rules and regulations.

• 7 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
• Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in environmentally-related discipline; 3 yrs. relevant programmatic exp.
• Or 2 yrs. relevant programmatic experience as Environmental Supervisor, 85865.
• Or combination of education in environmentally focused discipline or other job-related discipline & specific programmatic experience equaling 7 yrs.
• Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
