Environmental Services Worker

UnityPoint Health is seeking a full-time Environmental Services Associate in Marshalltown, IA, to perform cleaning and laundry services in the hospital. The role includes disinfecting patient areas, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting laundry tasks. The position requires general housekeeping knowledge and effective communication skills. Overview:

Environmental Services Associate

Full Time; 3:30PM - 12:00AM; rotating weekends/holiday schedule

An Environmental Services Associate, under the general direction of an Environmental Services Supervisor or Manager, performs general cleaning activities and helps distribute laundry throughout Marshalltown Hospital. Individually, and as a department, Environmental Service Associates assist in ensuring that the hospital is clean and safe for patients, associates and visitors on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care
• Deliver professional cleaning services throughout the hospital, which includes: disinfecting patient rooms, exam rooms and public restrooms; sweeping/mopping/vacuuming corridors and stairwells, lounge areas, classrooms and offices in accordance with standard operating procedures of the department.
• Promptly provide cleaning services to any area of the hospital if requested by the Environmental Services Manager/Supervisor/Lead or other hospital personnel to ensure patient care.
• Perform other key job functions as assigned by the Environmental Services Manager and Supervisors.

Laundry Services
• Perform laundry tasks as needed/requested such as: fill laundry carts with clean linen; distribute linen throughout the hospital; empty dirty linen from soiled utility rooms; assist with washing/drying soiled/clean linen as needed; aid in providing accurate par levels in each department.

Departmental Support
• Perform other duties as assigned: cleaning carpets, burnishing floors, stripping/finishing hard surface floors, picking up trash around the building, washing windows, etc

Qualifications:

Required:
• General housekeeping knowledge
• Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
• Ability to read, write and understand English
• Must be able to communicate effectively and display a positive attitude towards coworkers, staff, visitors and patients.

Preferred:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Six months experience in floor finishing/scrubbing and carpet cleaning.
