Environmental Services Summer Intern (12506402)

The State of South Carolina is hiring multiple Environmental Services Summer Interns in Columbia, SC. Interns will gain exposure to environmental programs, conduct fieldwork including wetland delineations and species surveys, assist in public meetings, prepare jurisdictional determinations, and digitize archaeological surveys using GIS. Candidates must be enrolled in a related college program. Pay ranges from $17 to $23 per hour.
This posting will be used to fill multiple summer internship positions in Environmental Services.

In the area of Environmental Services, the responsibilities includes:
• General exposure to all environmental programs including NEPA, Permitting, Compliance, Public Involvement and Design Build.
• Fieldwork: works with staff conducting wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species act surveys, and archaeological investigations.
• Public Involvement: assists NEPA Coordinators in conducting public meetings, set up meetings, run sign in desk, etc.
• Prepares a USACE jurisdictional determination.
• Visits and assists staff in monitoring stream mitigation.
• Digitizes archaeological surveys using GIS for incorporation into the state’s Cultural Resource Information System (Archsite).

Pay Rate is between $17.00 - $23.00/per hour depending on qualifications.A high school diploma; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
