Job Description

Georgetown University seeks an Environmental Services Specialist to maintain campus cleanliness and safety. Responsibilities include general cleaning, snow removal, and event support. Overview:
As a key member of the Environmental Services team, the Environmental Services Specialist will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness and safety of Georgetown University's campus. Working closely with the Custodial Supervisors and other departments, this position will perform various cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a comfortable and inviting environment for students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities:
• Perform general and specific cleaning and maintenance tasks to provide a clean, safe, and pleasant physical environment
• Manage snow and ice removal, clean up associated with water or fire damage, and special event support
• Clean up to 28,000-35,000 square feet of cleanable space per an eight-hour work day
• Represent the department with the University community and its visitors, behaving in a professional manner and keeping informed of departmental and University rules, regulations, and guides pertaining to employment obligations
• Comply with attendance and clock in and out on time
• Work with other University Facilities staff as part of a team, being flexible with schedules to accommodate emergency situations such as staffing shortages and snow removal
• Perform essential or non-essential tasks as assigned by supervisor and also perform assignments made by the Manager of Custodial Services and/or the Night Operations Manager
• *Qualifications:**
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• One year of custodial work experience is preferred
• Valid and current driver's license from Maryland, Virginia, or District of Columbia
• Basic knowledge of English including the ability to read, write, and speak English with understanding in order to read and understand product label instructions and University policies and procedures
• Must be able to relate custodial and maintenance problems clearly to supervisor and/or the Work Management Center
• Must complete a training program in building cleaning
