About the position

The Environmental Service Worker 1 position at the University of California Davis Health System involves performing semi-skilled and skilled cleaning, housekeeping, and general maintenance duties across the UCDH campus. The role includes waste handling for regular and regulated medical waste, ensuring compliance with departmental safety policies, and requires physical stamina for lifting, stretching, walking, and bending.

Responsibilities
• Perform semi-skilled and skilled cleaning and housekeeping duties in all areas of the UCDH campus.

• Handle waste, including regular and regulated medical waste and linen waste.
,
• Ensure compliance with departmental safety policies regarding equipment use.
,
• Complete other assigned duties as necessary.

Requirements
• Valid California Driver's License or valid California Driver's Temporary Permit with the ability to obtain a valid California Driver's License within 6 months of hire.

• Experience in floor care equipment, materials, procedures, and best practices.
,
• Customer service experience.
,
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload effectively.
,
• Verbal and written communication skills in English.

• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Environmental Services in a healthcare environment.

• Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a diverse and fast-paced team.

• Knowledge of floor care equipment, materials, procedures, and best practices.

• Skills to use computers and navigate necessary UC programs.

• Knowledge of and skills to operate power machines such as floor care equipment and trash compactors.
