Job Description

The State of Massachusetts seeks an Environmental Service Specialist I in Worcester, MA, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations, conduct research, and promote conservation efforts. Responsibilities include inspections, data analysis, community outreach, and collaboration with agencies. Candidates should have a strong understanding of environmental issues and a commitment to sustainability. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $31K–46K per year.

Implement and enforce environmental regulations to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
Conduct research and gather data on environmental issues and concerns within the state.
Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, businesses, and government agencies to promote environmental conservation and awareness.
Coordinate and lead educational programs and events to increase public understanding of environmental issues and promote sustainable practices.
Perform on-site inspections and assessments to identify potential environmental hazards and recommend solutions.
Monitor and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of environmental programs and initiatives.
Collaborate with other departments and agencies to develop and implement strategies for reducing environmental impact.
Respond to and investigate reports of environmental violations and take appropriate enforcement actions.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to environmental protection.
Stay current on environmental regulations, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve program effectiveness.
Prepare reports and presentations on environmental issues, initiatives, and progress.
Educate and train staff on environmental regulations, procedures, and best practices.
Collaborate with local, state, and federal agencies to address regional and national environmental concerns.
Participate in community outreach and engagement activities to promote environmental awareness and encourage public involvement in conservation efforts.
Serve as a liaison between the state and local communities to address environmental concerns and facilitate partnerships for environmental projects.
