About the position

The Entry-level Environmental Scientist position at TRC Companies, Inc. involves working within the Pacific Northwest Planning, Permitting, and Licensing practice. The role focuses on natural resource assessments and environmental permitting for various projects, including renewable energy development and utilities infrastructure. The successful candidate will engage in both office and fieldwork, which may require travel to rural and remote locations, and will contribute to technical reports and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
• Work under the supervision of project managers and senior staff to co-author technical reports, studies, and permitting application packages.

• Assist with researching federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental and land use permitting.

• Conduct natural resource field surveys, including wetlands delineations, vegetation mapping, and wildlife surveys.
,
• Navigate in the field to locate work areas and collect natural resources data using GPS and mobile applications.
,
• Gather and analyze publicly available data to summarize findings in reports and presentations.
,
• Assist with data quality control (QA/QC).
,
• Drive company vehicles on various terrains in compliance with traffic laws and company procedures.

• Abide by TRC Companies policies and procedures.

• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Range Management, Environmental Planning, Botany, or related field from an accredited university.

• Proficient in Microsoft software suite.
,
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for report authoring and team interaction.
,
• Ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain and various weather conditions.
,
• Willingness to travel for extended overnight periods to remote locations.
,
• Ability to operate field equipment such as GPS and electronic data collection devices.
,
• Enthusiasm for learning new skills and growing with increasing levels of responsibility.

• Valid driver's license is required.
