Job Description

The Delaware Department of Agriculture is seeking an Environmental Scientist II to join the Pesticide Section. This position is responsible for enforcing State and Federal Pesticide laws, regulations, and policies through inspections, investigations, sampling and documentation. Primary duties include conducting pesticide inspections and investigations, collecting samples, preparing reports and assisting with groundwater sampling and other special projects as assigned. This position may involve physical activity and work in confined areas, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The primary work area will include New Castle County and the City of Wilmington. This position is federally grant-funded and offers a career ladder opportunity for professional growth.

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Scientist II

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Life, Physical, or Applied Science or related field.

Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating scientific data.

Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.

Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.

Six months experience in technical report writing.
