Job Description
Clinchfield Consulting Group is hiring an Environmental Scientist II/Field Inspector II in Charlotte, NC. The role involves project coordination, conducting asbestos and lead paint surveys, contractor oversight, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should have a science-related degree or relevant experience, asbestos certifications, and excellent communication skills. The position requires significant travel (75%+) to client sites and offers benefits like paid time off, health insurance, and a 401K.
Responsible for assisting with project coordination, preparing technical reports, and conducting field inspections and contractor oversight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Conduct asbestos and lead paint surveys within southeast.
• Provide contractor oversight for asbestos and lead paint abatement work.
• Accurately document field activities using provided field forms and electronic surveying application.
• Communicate with program management, project staff, and subcontractors to obtain project information needed for preparation of technical reports.
• Review field documentation pertaining to asbestos and lead paint surveys. Evaluate accuracy and completeness of field submittals, confirm findings, and develop recommendations under the guidance of technical leadership.
• Understand and interpret laboratory reports.
• Prepare technical memorandums and reports.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Travel to client sites will be required and can be 75%+ of the position.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s / associate degree in science-related field or a minimum of 3 field experience.
• Current asbestos inspector and supervisor certifications.
• NIOSH 582 certification preferred
• Proficiency with MS Office and Adobe
• Ability to use a surveying/mapping application on hand-held devices. Training will be provided with the expectation that proficiency will be attained through practice and consistent usage of the client required application.
• Excellent technical and general communication skills.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team in a fast-paced environment.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
• Ability to obtain railroad badging through enrollment in ISNetworld (ISN), a supplier information management system utilized by freight rail clients.
