Job Description

About the position

This position is located in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Ocean Service (NOS), National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Monitoring and Reference with one vacancy in Charleston, SC. As an Environmental Scientist, you will perform various duties including developing and maintaining standardized procedures for assigned programs, identifying significant problem areas, examining biological data, and supporting communication and outreach efforts related to marine-science products.

Responsibilities
• Develop, maintain, and distribute standardized procedures for assigned programs and projects.

• Identify and validate significant problem areas requiring action while prioritizing assigned projects.
,
• Examine biological data necessary to contribute to project objectives and responsibilities.
,
• Support various communication and outreach efforts including development of written reports/publications and oral presentations.

Requirements
• Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

• Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation.

• Selectee may be subject to serving a one-year probationary period.

• Must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience in compiling environmental science research findings.

• Experience in developing scientific products for community outreach.
