About the position

The Ayres Midwest Environmental team is seeking a dedicated Environmental Scientist to support its Development Services Division. This role emphasizes high-quality work, community impact, and work-life balance, focusing on Brownfield projects. The successful candidate will collaborate with Project Managers and technical leads, providing support for site assessments, regulatory compliance, and environmental reporting, while contributing to innovative solutions that drive sustainable community development.

Responsibilities
• Apply technical writing and regulatory knowledge to produce high-quality environmental deliverables.

• Lead or assist in Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and NEPA compliance projects.
,
• Conduct fieldwork including site assessments, sampling, and subcontractor oversight.
,
• Analyze data and prepare technical reports, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
,
• Collaborate with team members on grant writing to support Brownfield redevelopment initiatives.
,
• Travel locally and nationally for short-term field assignments.
,
• Manage project tasks to ensure successful outcomes and client satisfaction.

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Geology, or a related field.
,
• 2-5 years of experience with ASTM-compliant Phase I ESAs and NEPA Environmental Reviews.
,
• Strong technical writing skills, with demonstrated experience producing technical reports and regulatory documentation.
,
• Knowledge of state (e.g., Wisconsin NR700) and federal (e.g., NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA) environmental regulations.
,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
,
• Ability to work in the field, carrying up to 50 pounds and navigating uneven terrain.

• Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
,
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves
• Experience managing field and office components of environmental projects.

• Familiarity with Brownfield redevelopment and grant writing.

• Certifications such as 40-hour HAZWOPER.
