Job Description

Atlas is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist for an on-site role in Los Angeles, CA. The position involves evaluating environmental impacts of large-scale development projects, ensuring compliance with CEQA and NEPA, conducting field investigations, and preparing technical reports. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related fields, with at least 3 years of relevant experience. Advanced degrees and certifications are preferred.

We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and motivated Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team in a full-time, on-site role based in Los Angeles, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in environmental science to evaluate and manage the environmental impacts of large-scale development projects.

Key Responsibilities:
• Environmental Impact Evaluation:
• Conduct thorough evaluations of proposed development projects to assess their potential environmental impacts, with a focus on CEQA and NEPA compliance.
• Analyze various environmental factors such as air quality, water resources, wildlife, habitat preservation, and noise levels, among others.
• Mitigation & Impact Reduction:
• Identify potential environmental issues and collaborate with project teams to develop effective impact reduction and mitigation strategies.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental protection.
• Field Investigations & Research:
• Lead and support field investigations, environmental sampling, and data collection to assess site conditions and environmental concerns.
• Perform field research to gather data relevant to specific environmental impacts, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Technical Reporting & Documentation:
• Prepare detailed technical reports documenting findings from environmental assessments, field investigations, and mitigation strategies.
• Ensure that reports comply with relevant environmental regulations, standards, and reporting requirements.
• Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Coordinate with various stakeholders, including local governments, regulatory agencies, and the project team, to ensure environmental compliance and effective project execution.
• Assist in public presentations or meetings when necessary to communicate environmental concerns and mitigation plans to stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or other advanced certifications are a plus.
• Experience:
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in environmental science, with a focus on CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) or NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) compliance and documentation.
• Proven experience in conducting field investigations, environmental assessments, and mitigation measures.
• Certifications & Licensure:
• Relevant professional certifications in environmental science or related areas (such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Qualified SWPPP Practitioner (QSP), or other applicable certifications) are preferred.
• Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance in California is highly desirable.

Compensation:

$62k-84k

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
