APTIM is seeking a full-time Environmental Scientist/Geologist in Wichita, KS, to conduct site investigations, remedial actions, and environmental compliance support. Responsibilities include data collection, project management, and fieldwork. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 2 years of experience, with flexibility for travel and fieldwork in various conditions. Job Overview :
Our Wichita, KS office is seeking a Geologist / Environmental Scientist on a full-time basis to participate in the development and implementation of site investigations and remedial actions. Tasks may include installation of monitoring systems, collection of groundwater and soil samples for environmental purposes, participation in implementation and operations and maintenance of both in-situ and ex-situ remedial actions, and site management for environmental projects.
The successful candidate will participate and / or lead field activities and assist in document preparation. The position may also include support of environmental compliance programs.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities :
• Collection and interpretation / evaluation of environmental data.
• Developing and executing various scopes of work and maintaining project schedules and budgetary goals.
• Participating in development of project proposals and budgets.
• Work independently or as part of a project team and be able to adjust to work environments.
• Travel to client sites to provide project support.
• Provide technical support to projects in all phases of work including, site characterization, procurement, and construction.
• Conducting and coordinating Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.
• Oversight of geological investigations including logging of boreholes and oversight for monitoring well installations and general environmental construction activities.
• Support environmental compliance projects, typically involving inspections and surveys and collection of environmental samples related to regulatory compliance requirements.
• Communication of technical concepts, evaluation of results, and reports via written and oral presentations.
• Ensure conformance to applicable technical standards as well as company policies and procedures.
• Manages own time to meet financial targets; coordinates execution of assigned work activities.
Basic Qualifications :
• Bachelor's degree in a core science (such as geology, chemistry, physics, or biology), engineering, environmental science, or related area required.
• Related work experience of at least 2 years but will consider entry level with appropriate degree and classroom background.
• Travel and flexibility in working hours will be required to accommodate stormwater sampling requirements based on qualifying rain events.
• Able to work independently in the field and in all types of field conditions / weather, including during rain events.
• Overtime and weekend work may be required to meet project sampling requirements.
• Detail oriented with strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills required. Must have a demonstrated strength and proficiency in Microsoft applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, SharePoint Online, etc. and the ability to learn other software applications.
• Experience in stormwater compliance inspection / sampling desirable.
• Stormwater certification and / or asbestos certification a plus.
• Current Valid Driver's License & meet our driving requirements.
• Basic computer skills associated with digital data collection and reporting (, autobuild, plangrid, equis collect, etc.)
Desired / Preferred Qualifications :
• Bachelor's degree in Geology / Environmental Science or related degree required.
• 1 to 3 years of experience conducting field investigations and supervising contractors preferred.
• Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
• Current HAZWOPER certification preferred.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Working knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience working in local geologic environments preferred.
