Job Description
Alta Science and Engineering is offering a summer internship for an Environmental Scientist in Moscow, ID. About the Opportunity
This is a summer internship with hours ranging from 20-40 per week based in our Moscow, Kellogg, or Boise, Idaho office. Under the guidance of experienced staff, you will learn from teams including scientists, engineers, and clients.
Responsibilities
• Conduct botanical and wildlife surveys to gather valuable data on local ecosystems.
• Document and characterize aquatic and terrestrial habitats to inform conservation efforts.
• Collect field samples for water and soil analysis according to established protocols.
• Analyze and synthesize data for report preparation.
• Support groundwater and soil remediation activities by providing critical information to project managers.
• Prepare graphs and charts to visualize data trends.
• Maintain professionalism during interactions with staff, clients, and stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor regarding work-related matters.
• Promote good Health and Safety practices at all times.
Requirements
• Pursuing a degree in ecology, engineering, environmental science, or related field from an accredited university, having completed at least 2 years of college classes; or recent graduate.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills for successful task completion.
• Familiarity with MS Office Software packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to work on your feet and lift 50 lbs.
• Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.
• Willingness to travel and conduct field work in various weather conditions.
