Job Description
Coastal Resources, Inc. is seeking a seasonal/temporary Environmental Scientist in Annapolis, MD, for March to June 2025. The role involves sediment collection in the Chesapeake Bay and ecotoxicology lab work. Candidates should be pursuing a degree in relevant fields and must be comfortable working outdoors and in a lab. The position is part-time, hourly at $21/hour, and requires local residency.
Seasonal/Temporary Position – Aquatic Toxicology
Coastal Resources, Inc. (www.coastal-resources.net), an ecological consulting firm located in Annapolis, MD, is currently accepting applications for a motivated seasonal/temporary environmental scientist on a flexible basis for 3-5 days a week from March through June 2025, with potential for up to 40 hours depending on candidate availability and company workload. The primary role of this position would be to assist with sediment collection via boat on the Chesapeake Bay and ecotoxicology lab work in Hunt Valley, Maryland, following sample collection. The position may also be eligible for extension.
Candidates should have or be working towards a bachelor’s degree in applied sciences such as aquatic resources, ecology, environmental science, or natural resource management. Candidates must be comfortable working aboard a research boat and in a laboratory setting. Candidates should also have excellent written and oral communication skills and be proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel. Position will require a self-starter, with good organization skills who is willing to work outdoors in all conditions and spend time in a laboratory setting. Tasks will vary depending on current projects, but will include assisting with:
· Sediment sampling in the Chesapeake Bay
· Ecotoxicology testing of sediment samples in laboratory
· Supporting other field, office, and laboratory work, as needed.
This opportunity is ideal for early career candidates or students with a small class load seeking professional experience. Work is primarily in-person, and candidates must live locally.
