Job Description:

UES is seeking a Phase I ESA Environmental Scientist to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated professional who thrives in a mix of field and office work. You will be responsible for conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in compliance with ASTM standards and environmental regulations, providing critical insights to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) in accordance with ASTM 1527-21 standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate current and historical land use, potential environmental risks, and adjacent property conditions.
• Review historical records, regulatory databases, environmental reports, and local agency records to assess potential Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs).
• Conduct stakeholder interviews with property owners, government agencies, and other relevant contacts to gather additional site details.
• Prepare technical reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations for clients.
• Identify potential environmental liabilities and advise on next steps when necessary.
• Ensure projects meet Texas-specific environmental regulations and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists, and other UES team members to deliver high-quality service to clients.
• Stay up to date with state and federal environmental regulations (EPA, TCEQ, RCRA, CERCLA, etc.).

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• 0-3+ years of experience conducting Phase I ESAs (entry-level candidates with relevant coursework will be considered).
• Understanding of ASTM Phase I ESA standards and environmental due diligence processes.
• Strong technical writing skills and ability to communicate findings clearly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to travel for fieldwork across Texas.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, soil/water sampling, or remediation projects.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping tools and environmental databases.
• 40-hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain).
