Job Description
Tectonic Engineering Consultants is seeking a Summer 2025 Environmental Science Intern for their Mountainside, NJ office. The role involves fieldwork including asbestos and lead investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, and preparing reports. Candidates should have a high school diploma or be pursuing a degree in a related field. Strong communication and organizational skills are required, along with a valid driver’s license for travel to job sites.
Tectonic is currently seeking an Environmental Science Intern for Summer 2025 to work on various projects based out of our Mountainside, NJ Office!
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in the A/E/C industry and to work with our team of environmental professionals!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of this position will include traveling to various job sites and utilizing necessary field equipment to assist with asbestos and lead investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, site investigations, remedial investigations, environmental site assessments, receptor evaluations, and related remediation tasks. Essential functions also include the assisting with the preparation of detailed, concise, and accurate field reports, technical report writing, communicating with project managers, contractors, client representatives and colleagues, performing research, communicating required information for and assisting with various analyses of data using various software, as well as all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma/Equivalent required; Candidates pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or similar are preferred;
• Ability to complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health Training within a reasonable period of time following the commencement of employment;
• Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to represent the Company in a professional manner;
• Must have strong organizational skills;
• Functional computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, Nitro/Adobe or similar PDF suite, as well as ability to utilize various software programs, time reporting systems, and other related computer applications; GIS software experience is a plus;
• Open availability for work outside of typical business hours for projects that require alternate working hours;
• Requires a valid, acceptable driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to project sites, as regular daily travel may be required.
PAY RANGE
Tectonic’s goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate’s work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.
Pay Range: $16.00 - $18.00 / hour
