Job Description

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health is seeking an Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Technician in Lebanon, NH. The role involves identifying and controlling occupational and environmental stressors, conducting safety assessments, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Candidates should have an Associate's degree in a related field and strong communication skills. The position is full-time and requires a background in health care and safety regulations.
Overview

Assists with the identification, evaluation, and control of occupational and environmental stressors at all Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) locations.

Responsibilities
• Assists with the identification and/or investigations of environmental, health and safety concerns and incidents including indoor air quality assessments.
• Reviews employee reports of injury and unsafe condition reports. Assists with investigations for required incidents and determines disposition for other incidents.
• Performs periodic industrial hygiene and health and safety assessments throughout the Dartmouth-Hitchcock (D-H) system.
• Conducts and facilitates fire and life safety requirements including all required fire drills, responds to and assists in the investigation of fire incidents, and assesses fire related inquiries.
• Works with facilities engineering and contractors to ensure compliance with interim life safety and other construction safety requirements.
• Assists with The Joint Commission, Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) applicable regulations, standards and policies.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
• Associates degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology, Engineering, or related field required or equivalent work experience.
• Background in health care and knowledge of basic safety and industrial hygiene hazards in health care is preferred.
• Excellent communications skills and an ability to work with a variety of software systems.
• Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation regulations is desirable.
